The concept of administrative VOB is documented in the man page: type_object.
Our primary admin VOB was /vob/build. It has never been systematically set as admin VOB for every other VOB (by the means of a pre-defined hyperlink usually by the VOB administrator). All known Admin hyperlinks have now been removed and the hyperlink type has been locked in the build vob, to prevent anybody from setting an hyperlink inadvertently, believing that it has been forgotten. Please consider the restrictions below.
As explained in ClearCase Administrator's Manual,
7.5 p 73, admin vobs used by replicated vobs must be replicated.
For the same reason, as we replicate /vob/ucd_snmp and
/vob/nnmsc/nms300 but don't want to consider replicating /vob/build,
the related hyperlinks were removed.
Before some progress has been made concerning the reflection on
the proper use of admin vobs with respect to MultiSite, I recommand
not relying on using admin VOBs at all.
